NO INPUT WORKSHOPS
What:
Workshop
When:
2020 - now
Workshops about the no-input technique. Acoustic and electronic feedback as a sound source, a composition and a production tool.
After an historical introduction about the use of feedback in contemporary music (including a listening session of compositions and performances that involve this phenomenon), the partecipants explore self oscillating circuits and feedback in an audio mixer and how to use them in a sound design and musical context. Specifically, they work with the no input technique which consists in connecting the outputs of a mixer with its own input to create a feedback that can be played and used in many different ways. The so created instrument, not built for this purpose, generates unpredictable audio results and has an interface that requieres a new way of approaching to the performance and the composition. In the workshop we focus also on improvisation with this quite unpredictable sound source and its user interface.
